Help for Claustrophobia

Claustrophobia is a very common anxiety of enclosed spaces. The fear is of being trapped and not being able to get out or away. Typically claustrophobia can be associated with :-

  • flying on planes
  • travelling by underground or overground trains
  • using elevators or lifts
  • sitting in the middle of a row of people (eg. theatre, cinema)
  • small bathrooms, toilets
  • walk-in cupboards, store rooms
  • MRI scans for medical assessment

There are other examples of when someone with claustrophobia might avoid a particular situation or if they have to endure it feel anxious and the need to escape.
